A Different Kind of Care
Hospice care is compassionate, specialized care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life for individuals facing a serious illness when treatment is no longer focused on a cure.
At Dover Health, hospice care is about meeting patients where they are physically, emotionally, and spiritually, while supporting families every step of the way.
Our hospice care team is comprised of nurses, aides, clinical social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. All of them work together to ease pain and symptoms, provide guidance and reassurance, and help patients live each day with comfort and dignity.
When Should Hospice Care Be Considered?
Hospice care may be appropriate when:
- A physician determines that a patient has a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness follows its expected course
- The patient chooses care focused on comfort rather than curative treatment
- Additional medical, emotional, and caregiver support would be beneficial
Hospice services can continue as long as the patient remains eligible, even beyond six months.
Choosing hospice care is not about giving up; rather, it is a choice to prioritize comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
